Alexa Ross of Robbins Ross Alloy Belinfante Littlefield has been retained by the governing board of Drew Charter School to create bylaws and policies designed to sustain the success of the revitalized East Lake community.

Drew Charter School has worked in conjunction with The East Lake Foundation since 1995.  Together, they have transformed what was a crime-ridden neighborhood into a thriving multi-income community.  East Lake provides opportunities for low-income residents to break the cycle of poverty now and throughout future generations.

The cornerstone of the transformed East Lake Community is the high-quality “Cradle-to-College” education.   Drew’s academics and character development are complemented by related programs, such as the CREW (Creating Responsible, Educated and Working) Teens program (designed to help East Lake teenagers complete high school and develop a plan for post-secondary education and careers).   The East Lake Foundation offers scholarships (such as the Tom and Ann Cousins Scholarships for CREW Teens graduates and the Charles Harrison Scholarships for high school and college students who are employed by Charlie Yates Golf Course and East Lake Golf Club) awarded annually to deserving Drew graduates.

Drew’s academic achievement is so stellar that East Lake has become a much sought-after neighborhood for families at every income level who want their children to have the opportunity to attend Drew.   With Alexa’s guidance, the Drew board of directors will ensure that East Lake’s low-income residents continue to have the ability to attend Drew so that the educational cornerstone remains firmly in place and the community continues to thrive for generations to come.
