Carey Miller

Carey Miller previously served as Executive Counsel, Deputy Executive Counsel, and Public Safety and Judicial Policy Advisor to Governor Nathan Deal. In these roles, Carey drafted, analyzed, and advocated for various pieces of legislation in the General Assembly, including Constitutional Amendments, complex tax code revisions and tax credit legislation, and bipartisan criminal justice reform legislation. Carey’s experience in this arena has forged relationships with elected and appointed officials and staff in all branches of state government.

In his prior role, Carey also worked closely with many state agencies in implementing state policies, complying with procurement rules, and promulgating effective and clear regulations. Carey’s prior experience as the chief legal advisor to the Governor has provided him keen insight on the intricacies of the executive branch’s perspective with respect to a host of issues, including legislative review, agency administration, and general legal matters.

A proud “Double Dawg” graduate of the University of Georgia, Carey earned a B.A. in Political Science from the School of Public and International Affairs and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law. Carey remains actively involved with the Blue Key Honor Society at the University of Georgia, serves on the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority, and is a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2019.
